Nor do they give Salt and Pepper instructions as they are heading to the airport.For most of us, it's all about team work; for others, not so much.
The Elkhorn's ended their 2007-2008 season on Sunday night while a few of the herd were grazing in BC.
"Probably the most disappointing loss in my 23 years as the Elkhorn GM" sighed Pete with a noticeable quiver in his voice. "I try hard to get the boys in shape and working together as a unit, but I have been let down by a group in individuals, they know who they are".
The GM also noted the value the absentees would have brought to the game if they chose. "They coulda changed the outcome for sure, not in scoring or defensively; even if I just put them on the odd time to let the stars get a breather!"
With the game tied at 1 apiece the "other team" scored with less than 10 seconds left.
Most organizations would crumble after seeing antics like this happen, not the Horns though. "We'll see 25 years and celebrate big time!" boasted the GM. "It is looking more and more like changes need to be made; I like what the Dolphins did in bringing in Bill Parcels to clean house, I am seriously thinking of getting Big Al to do the same".
The Dolphins have "The Tuna" and the Elkhorns just may have "The Sweater".
Game Notes:
- Ronny D blasted the shot of his career from the top of the circle to tie the game.
- Craig showed speed of days gone by twice in the game, and was still called a pylon.
- Randy sure can stop the puck on "D", 'nuff said.
- Rick D got kicked out and drew a penalty just as 3 Elkhorns were on a 3 on nothing!
-John played well, very well.
Apres Game Notes
- Bobby J showed his support for the Herd through another donation to the Elkhorn Liver Fund.
- Pete was last seen going to a party in the wee hours from the Jeffery's area while Craig skedaddled home.
- Many of the Horns were chatting at the table about each other's play, no one even mentioned Glen, Mark, Rick, or Nate, why would that be?

Well another season is in the books & it just may be the most disappointing loss in Elkhorn history. We could have used Nathan & Rick H especially after Rick D was ejected (with the herd on a 3 on none breakaway no less). Murray was telling everyone who would listen about his great shot with his new stick; but we are still waiting to see it. David, shell out the $90.00 & get some new shoes! Randy has shown everyone what a difference new shoes make, the Great Root Bear had a solid season on the blueline this season.
It's bad enough that some people can't commit to the team but why would you take one of our star players with you (Nathan)? Very selfish, I'm sure Kelowna will still be there next week. I have also heard that the Summer GM may temporarily suspend Vanessa for taking Rick H away from the team at such a critical time for the team.
Some changes may have to be made in the off season but I'm not sure if bringing in "Big Al" to coach is an option at this point as I have herd grumblings from some of the boys that they would quit rather than play for the iron fisted, yellow sweatered "Big" Allen Keenan.
A meeting to discuss our Wind up will be announced shortly. Once the wind up is over the Summer GM takes over the reins until next December.

I believe Rick H did this same sort of thing in Baseball Season as well, something about Valentines day in the spring? WTF?

My guess as to why no one even mentioned Mark, Glen, Rick or Nate is that they are all four (4) letter words now!
Especially Rick,,, he apparently has done this shit before in softball!

I never knew my ass looked so good for a guy. Sorry boys you couldn't score without someone setting you guys up. You should of stuck with the game play draw up with the salt and pepper shakers.
Craig was in the minus for the playoffs, may be someone should call Toronto to sign him up!!!!

Looks like the poll shows that if Big Al comes back to be a disciplinarian....the whole team quits! Now what GM!?
Perhaps we should see if "Butzy" is the guy to make the hard changes....
